Brigadeiros from Brazil

Tuesday September 23, 2008

These beautiful Brazilian chocolates look like truffles, but they taste more like chocolate dulce de leche - there's a hint of caramel in their taste and texture. They are named for a famous 1940's Brigadier General named Eduardo Gomes, who among other things was a great lover of chocolate. The airport in Manaus, Brazil is also named for him.

These look great on a tray with other individual dessert treats, such as alfajores and candied marzipan pecans.
