Limonada Frozen - Frozen Limeade

By , About.com Guide

Limes are called "limones" " (lee-mone-ayes) in South America, which can be confusing to English speakers. So although this drink is called a "limonada frozen" in Spanglish, it is really a frozen limeade drink. It is very tart and refreshing, and is my son's absolute favorite, although he warns that it may give you "brain freeze."

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup key lime juice (from about 8 small key limes)
  • 4 cups of crushed iced

Preparation:

  1. Bring water and sugar to a boil, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and cool.

  2. Mix sugar water, lime juice, and ice in a blender, and blend until well mixed and slushy. Serve immediately in tall glasses.

    Serves 4.
