Savory Mango Sauce - Salsa de Mango

Mango sauce is an excellent accompaniment to chicken or fish. You could also use it as a basting glaze for grilling, or as a dipping sauce for empanadas or tequeños (fried cheese wantons).

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chopped mango, fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Pinch of salt

Preparation:

  1. Place the chopped mango, vinegar, sugar, garlic, and salt in a food processor or blender, and process until smooth.

  2. Pour mixture into a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Cook sauce at a simmer, stirring, for about 5 minutes, until it thickens and turns translucent. Remove from heat and let cool.
